I have a server sitting here doing nothing. And a 100mps/10mps connection only getting browser use. Thought about setting up a server. Any advice?

No problem, i added to the Michael's account 2 different servers, one is located in Amsterdam different machine and ISP, the other one is located in London. Now you are able to choose which one the best for your needs by switching and testing them.

I restarted the server a while ago and it is running OK. I also returned the mapcycle to what it was... as some players had not got the other maps that were running and were getting kicked off when the new map loaded......

Thanks Degem, the server runs Linux but it's nothing to do with the bash thing. It was just a bad hop between a BT and a Level3 server. It's now mostly fixed, not perfect but almost.

try it doogie its easy to use and uninstall costs nothing and they have severs in uk and Holland. It's called Hamatchi. It is a virtual private network just read instructions you have nothing to lose

Degem most players on CH do have a good ping unless their SOF2 settings are wrong. For me it's a bad BT routing problem which has only occured over the last 3 weeks and only to Netherlands servers. Thanks for trying to help though.

I used to play virtual pool online and using hamatchi everyone could connect to me with really low pings and that was using my pc to run and play the game

Doogie have you tried connecting through a vpn like hamatchi it might work cause their servers may route you a different way

Good Luck with that DooGie.... I looked at maybe connecting via a proxy server but all I found was that for gaming it would be laggy which would not be of help for you anyway......
